Last year I ran a contest about becoming a writer. I asked people to write their story about the moment when they knew they were a writer. The stories came in like a flood. It was amazing. The stories were motivating and inspiring.
But this year, I want you to take it one step further…
Everyone has a story to tell, including you.
The dangerous part of writing and sharing our stories isn’t always the writing itself or even the story, it’s more about how it may affect others, and how they might react to it. It’s dangerous, because honesty always is.
For those who disagree with other points of view but are incapable of presenting their arguments free of insults, my suggestion is to improve your vernacular, because it’s completely and utterly lacking of any value.
That’s an insulting statement, isn’t it?
Yesterday I watched one of the weirdest, most unprofessional, and perhaps the dumbest Youtube videos ever. Then I looked at the number of views and it has to date over 28 million views. Okay, I’ve changed my mind, it’s brilliant.
Most of the highest grossing movies of the year will be panned by critics, much less considered for an award by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and yet, they will earn more money than you and I could earn in ten lifetimes. And they’ll likely earn far more than the actual winners of academy awards.
Who is fooling who? It’s a travesty! Isn’t it? Maybe not.
This year I’m starting the year right by highlighting some of the best writing blogs on the web. I love to visit blogs about writing for inspiration, encouragement and motivation, and it’s with those three qualities in mind that I have compiled this list of the top 25 writing blogs.
Next year I will expand the list to the top 50, and I’d like to do that with your help. You can help by posting links to writing blogs you love in the comments. If you’re a blogger for writers, how about introducing yourself and add your link in the comments, too.
If you’re a writer (or any kind of artist), the odds are you’ve struggled with doubt and I bet there have been days when it has been downright overwhelming, perhaps even enough to make you want to give in and give up.
Fear not, doubting one’s self is human nature, but (and this is a big BUT) it’s also part of human nature to overcome and triumph over one’s doubts.

If you’ve published a book, or if you’re planning on publishing soon, you’ll want to know how to get reviews on Amazon. Lots of them.
You don’t have to wait months or years for reviews to start coming in, because if you follow the instructions in this post, you can get them in a matter of weeks! It doesn’t matter if you’re self-published or traditionally published.
Getting over 100 reviews doesn’t happen by accident.
Why is it so hard to write your book’s description?
If a friend were to ask us to write her book description we’d do it in a heartbeat and it would be a darned good description. Right?
