There is Always Write Now

There is Always Write Now

written by Andy Mort
Note: This is a post by Andy Mort, Andy is a UK based musician and writer. He is the founder of SheepDressedLikeWolves.com, which is a Blog and Podcast aimed at encouraging HSPs and introverts to embrace their creativity and push against the expectations of an often overwhelming world. Download his free eBook “The Gentle Rebel” here.

You are enough. You are in a position right now to be enough. Not next week, not tomorrow, not later today, not in an hour, not in a minute, right now. Right here in what we might call the eternal present you can choose to accept that you are enough. By making this decision you accept the freedom and responsibility to do the great work you’re here to do.

As writers it is important that we acknowledge this so that we can create without pressure (the future) and live without fear or regret (the past).

A Crazy Myth Writers Need To Kill

A Crazy Myth Writers Need To Kill

written by Bryan Hutchinson

When I was in my early twenties and an up and coming pool player I thought in order to be the best, I needed to know everything about billiards. I thought I needed to know how the tables were made, what the balls were made of, and even the ins and outs of cue design.

Then, one day, while in the pool room sitting in a lounge chair “reading” a book on how to make billiard tables, my mentor tapped me on the shoulder and snapped me out of a daydream. Truth was, I had drifted off because the book was boring and I wasn’t really interested in building tables. “Why are you reading that?” He asked, and I told him. What he said next was life-changing.

How To Breathe New Life Into Your Writing

Writers can sometimes run out of new material. There’s no shame in admitting it. Creativity is not a bottomless well. All writers at some point, struggle to find the next headline. You may feel your writing has gone stale.

Why Using Insults Is Stupid And You Should Disagree

Why Using Insults Is Stupid And You Should Disagree

written by Bryan Hutchinson
Note: This post was inspired by a question from a reader about what to do about insulting comments posted on her blog. I’d love to hear your take in the comments.

For those who disagree with other points of view but are incapable of presenting their arguments free of insults, my suggestion is to improve your vernacular, because it’s completely and utterly lacking of any value.

That’s an insulting statement, isn’t it?

How to Be Loved for the Work You Love to Do

How to Be Loved for the Work You Love to Do

written by Dana Sitar
Note: This is a post by Dana Sitar, a freelance blogger and indie author of “A Writer’s Bucket List: 99 things to do for inspiration, education, and experience before your writing kicks the bucket.” She shares resources, tips, and tools for writers in search of a path at DIYWriting.

I recently realized what it really means to love the work you do. I’ve been dragged out of my comfort zone for the first time in a while and forced to run my writing business on the bare minimum — which, beautifully, means everything falls by the wayside while the actual writing comes starkly back into focus.

9 Tips On How To Totally Crush Writer’s Block

9 Tips On How To Totally Crush Writer’s Block

written by Bryan Hutchinson

I’ve read far too many times from some authors that Writer’s block doesn’t exist. And I’ve even read from a few who stated that because there wasn’t a word for it before the 1900’s it can’t exist. You know, I’m sure there was a time when there wasn’t a word for “Fire” but that didn’t stop “it” from burning down forests after lightning struck.

Writer’s block exists. Let’s get that out in the open before we delve into how to totally crush the heck out of it. If you’ve ever been stuck, unable to write, or at a loss for words, you’ll want to read this.

Why So Many Blogs and Books Utterly and Completely Fail!

Why So Many Blogs and Books Utterly and Completely Fail!

written by Bryan Hutchinson

Yesterday I watched one of the weirdest, most unprofessional, and perhaps the dumbest Youtube videos ever. Then I looked at the number of views and it has to date over 28 million views. Okay, I’ve changed my mind, it’s brilliant.

Most of the highest grossing movies of the year will be panned by critics, much less considered for an award by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and yet, they will earn more money than you and I could earn in ten lifetimes. And they’ll likely earn far more than the actual winners of academy awards.

Who is fooling who? It’s a travesty! Isn’t it? Maybe not.

A lot of people are finding out that following their passion is fraught with difficulty, pain and suffering, and sometimes it’s unbearable. But what if they’re mistaken and it’s not their passion that they are following?

Whatever your dream is, that’s your passion. Right? Not so fast. That’s not always the case and if you’re someone who has fallen for this trap it could be the reason you are miserably following the wrong path.
